This poetry series always benefits a social service agency. In the past it has benefitted My Sister's Place, Joseph's House, and the Dinner Program for Homeless Women. This year the benificiary is Christ Church Episcopal School in Nazareth, Israel. An elementary and secondary school for Arab Palestinians of both Muslim and Christian background, the school works with refugees, migrant peoples, and engages in community development and healthcare programs. Poets donate a portion of any book sales to the school.

Ilona will perform a variety of poems, including excerpts from her long poem "Break," which she performed as a theatrical piece in 1997. "Break" braids together Japanese sword-work, martial arts, and poetical narratives, opening doors on a woman's knowledge of violence, fear, aggression, loyalty, and liberation.
